Himmler
Heinrich Himmler was born on October 7, 1900 in Munich, Germany. Himmler became involved with the Nazi party during the 1920s. Himmler was appointed head of the SS, Hitler's personal bodyguard, in 1929. After the Nazis took power he helped expand the power of the SS. He also set up the first concentration camp. Himmler received more responsibility as the war went on. After Germany's fall, Himmler was arrested by the allies and he later killed himself on May 23, 1945. Goebbels
Joseph Goebbels was in charge of Germany's propaganda. He attended college to get a doctorate in literature. He then became in charge of a newspaper in Berlin it was called Der Angriff ('The Attack'). His newspaper contributed to the growth of anti-Semitism. He also gave a speech on November, 1938, which then triggered the Kristallnact, or 'The night of Long Knives'. Goering
Hermann Goering served during WWI as a fighter pilot. Goering joined the Nazi party in 1922.Hitler appointed Goering to his cabinet in 1933 and the following year Goering formed the Gestapo secret police. He was Hitler's second in command so oversaw economic programs and their military expansion. In July 1941, Hermann Goering committed suicide in 1946. Hess
Rudolf Hess joined the Nazi party in the early 1920’s. Hess was one of Hitler's closest friends, he helped Hitler edit his book "Mein Kampf.". Hess was also the Nazi party secretary and deputy. Hess parachuted into Scotland. The same day Hitler planned to invade Russia which was on May 10, 1941. He did this with the objective of negotiating peace with Britain. The British imprisoned him and he later died in prison, in the year of 1987. Eichmann
Adolf Eichmann joined the Nazi party in 1932. By 1937, In Vienna, Eichmann established a forced emigration program for the Jews. He set up the Central Office of Jewish Emigration. This is where there was an assembly-line process that lasted less than an hour. During this process Jews were stripped of all their belongings and even their citizenship. He would also go to the concentration camps and discuss the killing techniques used on the Jews he sent there. Israeli agents tracked him down, on May 11, 1960. Adolf Eichmann was convicted and hanged for his crimes.
